Cadette Trees Badge Clinic

By Girl Scouts of Tropical Florida, Inc. (other events)

Saturday, February 24 2018 10:00 AM 1:30 PM EDT

ABOUT ABOUT

During this clinic, Girl Scouts Cadettes will learn about edible and historically useful South Florida native trees.  They will learn about the life cycle of Pine Rockland habitats, be able to label the parts of a tree, and identify common native south Florida trees in their neighborhoods.  There will be a small presentation on logging/clear-cutting/deforestation followed by a discussion/debate on the pros and cons of tree use. Girls will also discuss the benefits of planting native trees and how planting natives can help connect fragmented habitats.  Finally, girls will complete a tree craft of their choice.
